"MGP4 Program experience"

About: King Edward Memorial Hospital / Maternity

(as the patient),

We recently had our baby at KEMH through the midwifery group practice (MGP4), birthing in the hospital. We had an allocated midwife Viv who was so incredible and helped us feel informed about all the choices we made during pregnancy and postnatally. We also had Beck as the other midwife on-call who ended up attending our labour and birth, and honestly could not have felt more supported and cared for if we tried! We had met Beck throughout the pregnancy for 2 appointments so I felt very comfortable with her as well as Viv, and was so happy to be cared for by them both throughout the journey. We felt they were exceptional midwives born for the job. Emma with MGP4 was also lovely and super supportive postnatally for our family when Viv & Beck were off.

Staff in the main hospital at KEMH and in adult special care unit went above and beyond to help us in the recovery stage until we came home. Based on my experience I would highly recommend all women/families who are able to access MGP care at KEMH to consider it as the continuity of care is so beneficial, and you also have access to the amazing services such as physiotherapy, breastfeeding centre and psychology at KEMH if needed post-birth too! Beyond grateful for our experience and hope if we’re lucky enough in future to have another baby, we would love to utilise the MGP again.

Dear cubeny94,

I was so pleased to read about your experience having your baby under the care of the Midwifery Group Practice (MGP) 4 at King Edward Memorial Hospital (KEMH). It sounds like Viv, Beck, and Emma all provided such warm and supportive care for your family across the entirety of your journey. It is very kind of you to express your thanks to the wider care teams as well, including the adult special care unit (ASCU), physiotherapy, psychology, and the Breastfeed Centre. The teams will be very happy to hear how much their expertise and compassion meant to you.

Wishing you all the best,

Delaney
