"Cardiac care"

About: Margaret River Hospital / Emergency Department

(as the patient),

Attended with heaviness and left sided pain in afternoon at the ED.

I recall the triage nurses said:

If you haven’t got time you might want to leave now as you’ll have to wait.

Declined to leave. Obs were taken while seated at triage window -

BP 170/140 , temp and pulse.

Very quiet in waiting area.

Called in to see on duty doctor in less than 10 minutes

They wrote a discharge letter and gave me a list of cardiologists the I could make an appointment with.

I went to the car and called the one provider who has the 3 clinics. Advised to get a cardiac test while at the ED so the cardiologist can check urgency of when to offer appointment date. Went back and the on duty doctor was not available.

Next day went to another hospital. Given aspirin, blood thinners and transferred to another hospital’s cardiac care unit.

Monitored, angiogram, advised on management of angina with outpatient appointment with cardiologist 5 weeks later.

This is a complaint about the medical service at the ED Margaret River

At the very least I feel a ECG should have been done. I believe there is a protocol on management of presentations with left sided pain/ heaviness radiating up the neck to the jaw.

The triage staff – in my opinion, unbelievable!

I would like to send this complaint directly to the new consultant who manages the ED

I requested a email address from the receptionist at the hospital so that I could do this.

I also spoke to a nurse and they said they’d leave a message for the clinical nurse to call me. This has not happened.

In order to find a contact email for MR hospital I called the Country Health Services.

There is no email address for Margaret River Hospital!!!

Could you address this issue?
