"My partner's stay in hospital"

About: Sydney / Sydney Eye Hospital

(as a carer),

It was about a four day stay with my partner and Sydney Hospital was the first part of the experience and the staff, both the nursing and medical staff I really couldn’t fault them in any way. They were efficient and thorough and listened well and they were enormously attentive and were very energetic and were going between the rooms in a very quick way. They couldn’t have been nicer and you hear very bad reports often and I think that’s more related to politics and government than the actual people in there, they were fabulous. They bend over backwards.

The other thing was the cleanlineness, they were always cleaning it seemed they never stopped. They were two older ladies. The other thing I noticed there was a very good social worker, named Beata, she was older and that was a big change to have a social worker that was so good and thorough. At other hospitals they were young and I felt they just didn’t know anything, but she was just the opposite. First time I have ever found a social worker who was worthwhile. We are in out 80s and we don’t struggle with anything mentally, but we have lived a long time and you can pick this kind of thing. 5 gold stars for Sydney hospital. A very important thing, there was a friendliness, it was personal which doesn’t happen in the big hospitals. One of the nurses said we all know each other and it seemed they were like a family. It was just a great experience considering that you don’t want to go to hospital.
