"Fracture clinic follow up"

About: Bunbury Hospital / Outpatients Clinic

(as the patient),

I recently had follow up with the fracture clinic. The admin staff were extremely efficient and kind in arranging the appointment. I wish the same could be said for the junior dr. I felt dismissed, rushed and unheard in my short appointment. As my X-ray didn’t show a break I requested an MRI as I was experiencing intense pain and weakness. This request was denied by a junior staff member at the fracture clinic.

My GP referred me for an MRI. As this was a GP referral and not a specialist referral not only was there no Medicare rebate it took 3weeks to get an appointment. The MRI shows extensive ligament damage treatment has been delayed because I was not assessed properly at the fracture clinic. I feel all could have been avoided if I was listened to and not rushed out the door because there was nothing on my X-ray.
