"Care received by Bunbury O/T and physio section of ED"

About: Bunbury Hospital / Allied Health Bunbury Hospital / Emergency Department

(as the patient),

Following a fall whilst climbing in the Porongorups in February, I was taken to a different hospital, and my case was followed up in Bunbury Hospital by the Outpatients section as I live in that region. I had sustained a few fractures in my lower right leg and ankle and my right toes would not move on their own.

This meant numerous visits to the orthopaedic team, followed by the OT and physio department.  Whilst I achieved no real outcome from the orthopaedics, the personal and professional care from Leanne, Holly, Mia in outpatients/ physio and especially OT Lisa has been way more expected.

Lisa made a home visit and organised a shower chair and toilet support.

She explained all the Aged Care services, discussed mental health, and all facets of rehab as I was very stressed at the time, and left phone numbers of who to contact when needed. I had no idea these services even existed, and whilst I’m hoping to make a full recovery, their service has been invaluable.

Dear Akka77,

Thankyou for this positive feedback. I will be sure to pass this onto the hospital Physiotherapy and ED Links team. The ED Links team offer a responsive front-end service and aim to see patients in the community after an ED presentation to support their recovery. Lisa is a valuable Occupational Therapist who, as you are aware, can help with home visits, environment set up and provide you with the necessary contacts to make your rehabilitation journey a bit more manageable. Likewise, Holly (Physiotherapist), and Leanne (Clinical Nurse), are part of the ED Links team and offer comprehensive coordinated care. I am glad you also got to meet some of our hospital outpatient physiotherapists. I hope Mia was able to help you to get back on your feet and ready for the Porongurup’s again! Once again, many thanks for the kind words, the team will be excited to hear you think they are ‘invaluable’.

Kind regards,

Joanne Clark
