"Access to hospital treatment"

About: Fiona Stanley Hospital / General Medicine Department, & Ward 6C

(as the patient),

I believe I have been refused care because FSH is not my catchment. When I was acutely unwell, the doctors on Ward 6C identified a need for further investigations and interventions but refused to provide it given that FSH is not my catchment hospital as I understand it.

They did my pacemaker surgery at FSH last year and didn’t bother about catchment back then but all of a sudden they refuse further care. Shocking and disgusting.

Dear speedybird,

I am sorry to hear of your experience with FSH. Ordinarily, following a patient discharge, almost all outpatient care is done in the patient’s catchment hospital, as per WA Health guidelines. This is usually preferable for patients because it is closer to their home. To investigate your specific case, we would require more information.

I invite you to contact our Patient and Family Liaison Service on 6152 4013 during business hours or via email FSHFeedback@health.wa.gov.au with your information to allow us to investigate this further.

Kind regards,

Neil Doverty
