"Care Received"

About: Geraldton Hospital / Emergency Department

(as the patient),

I'm travelling alone,  I'm from Vic and this happened in Geraldton,  WA. I had fallen out of my caravan on a weekday evening but didn't go to the hospital as I thought there would be a long wait so I went the next day around lunchtime.

I'd hurt both ankles, my left foot & right knee so I had a hard time walking. A lovely lady went into the ED and brought a nurse with a wheelchair out to me. The nurse took me in, first to the triage window then the next window.

After that I was placed in the waiting room, out of the way of others. I was only waiting for maybe an hour before the Dr called me in. He came & took me in, then organised x-rays. I was taken to the x-ray depth.,  who were lovely then after a short wait, I was taken back to the ED.

The Dr. came back to me with my results within 40 mins or so. I was getting cool & was given a warm blanket. I have a fracture in the left foot, but all else is only sprained a little. After being fitted with a moon boot & given crutches I was told that the fracture clinic would contact me.

All up, I would have been approx. 2 hours in total and the level of care shown was second to none. I believe the hospital where I'm from would have been closer to a 4 hour turnaround and the level of care would have been far less.

I'm extremely grateful to the lady who brought the nurse out to me and I'm more than extremely grateful to the Drs & nurses I saw at Geraldton Regional Hospital. Thank you.
