"Directional signage to the hospital"

About: Kerang Hospital

(as the patient),

Presented to another Hospital with smashed thumb.

As no Dr was available we were sent to Kerang.

We do not live in the area and were visiting on a weekend.

I enquired where the Kerang hospital was and they said to follow the signs.

We discovered that there is no hospital signage (the blue and white cross) from the Barham entrance into Kerang.

There is also no signage to the hospital when you are in the main street.

We stopped to enquire at a shop and after speaking to two lots of people (first lot didn't know) were pointed in the direction of the hospital.

The care we received in obtaining 24 stitches was exemplary. No problems there.

Just would have been nice to be directed to the correct campus in a timely manner.

Simple fix. Hope you can get it done.

Hi Bleeding Patient,

Thank you for providing valuable feedback to KDH, we are pleased to hear that the care you received in our Urgent Care Centre was exemplary and that you are recovering well from your injury.

Your feedback is timely and quite relevant. We are in the process of working with Vic Roads to attain additional signage around the Kerang area, as we too, feel that it is not adequate.

Currently, we do not have an ETA on the erection of new signage but anticipate that it will happen shortly. Michelle Maritz, our Director of Corporate Business would be more than happy to provide you with an update via Care Opinion when this body of work is completed.

Thank you again for bringing this to our attention and ensuring that Kerang has appropriate directional signage.

Kind Regards,

Claire

Hi Bleeding Patient,

Thank you again for providing feedback to ensure that we as an organisation, continue to improve our service delivery and also access to quality care.

I am pleased to inform you that we have worked closely with the Gannawarra Shire Council and have had an additional 3 blue and white hospital directional signs installed around Kerang. The locations of these signs being;

- Corner of Wellington and Boundary Street

- Corner of Boundary and Victoria Street, with an additional sign to then direct the flow onto Burgoyne street.

We are satisfied that this will ensure that traffic coming from the Barham/Koondrook entrance, will have access to clear directional signage to the hospital.

Once again, thank you for raising this concern, your feedback has instigated a potentially life saving change!

Take care and I hope that you have recovered from your injury.

Kind regards,

Michelle
