We have been taking our Teen to the Children's Adolescence and Mental health services in Randwick, for over a year. Although there are very good Psychologists here, it seems care has gone out the window. I believe the service is heaving under the pressure, and at times it feels like Faulty Towers to me. We attend, our therapist is usually late, and can't remember where we are with therapy from the last week...
I believe the communication between patient, reception and therapist is appalling,. They don't email reminders or messages because of privacy laws, therefore we turn up and there aren't appointments, or our therapist can't make it! I feel the carers are under so much pressure every day with their traumatised child, and this is meant to be a support. We are expected to make all appointments, which we found out, only by missing our regular time. We don't get any reminders from reception, or therapist? We try to book school terms for fear of missing weekly sessions, but that is also too far ahead?
I feel this is totally ridiculous and infuriating! I feel for the families seeking much needed help and support.
In my opinion, this is a dinosaur establishment, that needs help with modern technology, and more consistent communication with their families. In addition, they don't have one Psychiatrist that is full time, and you can't be with your own psychiatrist if you are with Camhs?
Yet again, a public system that I feel is broken and dilapidated. Based on my experience, moving back to Private.
