"Unsafe discharge of a patient."

About: Robina Private Hospital

(as a relative),

After being in this hospital as a referred patient my sibling was told to remove their spouse as soon as possible or pay $1,000 a day for their care.

They had been utilising their private health insurance for 3 months but it seems decided my sibling's spouse was too difficult and they wanted to be rid of them.

Social worker could not find any suitable place in care for them and their treatment in the hospital had rendered them "clinically declined" by all facilities.  My sibling's spouse is still mobile but drugged to the hilt.  Despite them admitting that they should not go home they just wanted them out of there and their only suggestion was dumping them on the public system.   They did not seem to care that my sibling's spouse is potentially a danger to themself or others.   In my opinion, totally reprehensible behaviour on this hospitals part.

Dear sagittariusqr38,

I am sorry to read that this was your siblings perception of their experience at the Hospital.

I recognise that it is naturally a distressing time for you, however, I would be happy to provide information to you and your sibling that may create a fuller picture.

I would very much appreciate the opportunity to speak with you and your sibling further in relation to this so please contact me on 07 5665 5100 so that we can arrange a suitable time.

Kind Regards

Heidi Smith

Chief Executive Officer
