"Breach of Confidential Information"

I believe staff shared my child's confidential information with their abuser because they were friends with this person and staff didn’t believe they could be responsible. When my child and I complained, nothing was done in terms of disciplining these individuals despite their conduct being recorded and clearly noted by the department.

I understand senior management at Metro North has taken no action against the staff for this. Good culture starts at the top.

The hospital claims to be a safe space, but in my experience it isn’t. I genuinely would and have cautioned women seeking treatment for DFV related injuries or sexual abuse to go to a different hospital, given the conduct that was demonstrated to me. I’m constantly terrified that staff will continue to leak my child's personal information to their abuser, and my whole family, adult children with children of their own, feel unsafe and vulnerable due to the response from the hospital and the continued presence of these staff members.

With several family members with a serious cardiovascular condition, as well as young children, my family is horrified that one day we may need to present for care to this emergency department and encounter these same staff members.

We have no trust in the conduct of staff if this is how they are seemingly allowed to behave - and I feel are rewarded (and promoted) after this.

Their actions in disclosing information to an identified abuser is how I believe people end up being murdered by their abusers. It’s absolutely revolting to think emergency nurses conducted themselves this way. It destroys all faith I have in this facility that their senior management seems so lax about holding those responsible to full account.
