"Exercise class - War Memorial Hospital"

About: War Memorial Hospital

(as a service user),

Three years ago I was going through a very bad time in my life when my legs were poorly and I had both of my knees replaced. I knew that I required more exercise to be able to get full benefit from my now new knees. I made contact with the War Memorial Hospital and completed the "Falls Prevention" course and was invited by the co-ordinator to join the exercise class. After joining the class I became stronger, self reliant and a much better person all rough as well as meeting new and wonderful friends, all with a story to tell about their own health. I feel that health wise I could not have asked for a better outcome.

Dear funnyqb55,

Thank you so much for sharing your experience of our falls prevention exercise class. So pleasing to hear that even three years on, you remember it as a really beneficial program, that helped improve your physical health and wellbeing.

Self-reliance is a really important outcome of our programs, and the peer discussions you describe are a valuable way to generate ideas that can help our clients continue to focus on their exercise and other recommendations beyond the program itself.

Kind regards,

Genevieve Maiden
