My usual obstetrician was away on holidays when I was handed over to another doctor who was then away sick the week I was due, I went in recently with contractions and to monitor fetal movement because they had decreased. I was sent home by a relief doctor with not a lot of information.
I then went in the following afternoon as the contractions became more intense and closer together, when I arrived at the hospital they stopped but baby needed to be monitored again as movements and heart rate weren't normal.
The following morning I finally met doctor Elise, she came to me and it was obvious she'd read everything about me and my pregnancy, she could see my stress and pain. She knew I needed a plan in place. I really felt as though she bent over backwards for me to be induced that night. Once that was organised I went home to sleep before coming in again later that night.
An hour before then, I came into labour naturally and I feel that it was because of Elise making me feel heard and at ease. Overall it was very stressful for me, I'd even use the word traumatic because I was worried about my baby and I had a different doctor come in everything and just tell me to go home. If it weren't for Elise I'd feel I'd need to take it higher. This wasn't good enough I was just looked over by the other relief doctors but Elise really measured me.
