"Operation for lung surgery discharge time."

About: Fiona Stanley Hospital / Transit Lounge

(as the patient),

Was discharged recently after lung surgery three days earlier. Was told to wait for discharge papers in transit ward. I think the transit ward should be renamed chamber of horrors. After being told the latest I would leave was 2pm I was still waiting at 2.30. I finally left without discharge papers.

There were people in beds after day surgery, people waiting for surgery and it seemed anyone walking in and out. How the poor nurses coped I cant imagine. I feel the transit lounge is a serious problem.

Dear aquariussd35,

Thank you for providing feedback via Care Opinion. Firstly I would like to apologise for the wait you had for your discharge documentation. This paperwork is completed by your treating team who may have had many competing tasks at the time you were moved to the Transit Lounge.

The Transit Lounge is a high-volume area for both discharges and admission into the hospital. The activity is reflective of our current ability to provide access to care for all of our patients and the demand for inpatient beds.

Thank you for your feedback and I wish you a speedy recovery.

Kind regards,

Neil Doverty
