"Hospital ward"

About: Northam Health Service

(as the patient),

Recently the morning nurse at Northam Hospital Ward put QV Wash on bed sores. I informed them it was not meant for that purpose that it inflamed them. They did not listed to my protest and applied the QV Wash like ointment about 20 min later I had a burning excruciating pain over my buttocks and groin and inside legs. I have a breast cancer tumor I am in severe pain this unnecessary additional pain is traumatising and further debilitating making it harder for me to have dignity and mobility. Being on chemotherapy treatment this leads to infection and can compromise health.

Dear branbm93

Thank you for sharing your concerns about the treatment you received from a nurse at Northam Hospital. From what you describe it was a very unpleasant experience and I am very sorry you were left feeling traumatised and further debilitated under already difficult circumstances. The actions of the nurse are not reflective of our values and while I cannot change the experience you had I would very much value the opportunity to discuss this with you in person if you are open to meeting with me. I am contactable on phone number 96901610 or via email on Denise.hughes@health.wa.gov.au

Again my sincere apologies for the distress this interaction caused.

Yours sincerely

Denise Hughes

Acting Manager of Clinical Services
