"Poor treatment of head injury"

About: Leongatha Memorial Hospital / Urgent Care Centre

(as a friend),

I took one of my staff members to Leongatha U/Care with a head injury.

They had hit their head on a truck door. Split their head open and was bleeding alot.

Holding their head with a tea towel.

We went to the window of U/Care and was given a form by a Nurse to fill out and told to ring the bell when finished. We did this and gave the form to the ward Clerk and told we would be seen ASAP.

55mins before anyone looked at my staff member or their head.

No triage at the window, no nero obs, no questions of mechanism of injury.

No questions about LOC!

Left in waiting room - I believe if I had not stayed with my staff member they would have been alone in an empty waiting room unobserved for 55mins.

Dear augustqt57

Thank you for providing this feedback.

You have raised some points that would indicate that the level of care we would expect to deliver may not have been met.

To further explore your experience, it would be helpful if you could make contact with myself on 0421 352 137 or Jenny Dempster our Executive Director of Clinical Services on 0408 538 706.

Regards

Lou
