"Conversation 2 staff member had in the ACRU ward about a patient"

When getting ready to leave the Acru ward from visiting a family member I had overheard 2 staff members talking about a patient that had removed something from the sandwhich they had been given and having a laugh about being disgusted with the patient removing the ingredient and one of the staff members saying what a f*****g r****d this patient was.

I felt disgusted with what I had heard as to me, these people become nurses or doctors because they care about patients and shouldn't be treating them badly or talking this horrible for visitors to hear this. I believe no patient deserves this even more so the elderly or people who are getting physio rehabilitation.

Thank you for taking the time to share your recent experience at Rockingham General Hospital (RGH), your feedback is valuable to us. We endeavour to treat patients and visitors with respect and kindness and I am deeply sorry that this was not the case on this occasion. I am aware that you have since met with the Senior Nurse to discuss this issue, and that you were reassured that she would be investigating this further. The Senior Nurse has discussed the incident with all staff on ACRU ward and explained this is totally unacceptable language, and not the type of behaviour that is tolerated by this hospital. Thank you for taking the time to raise these points on Care Opinion, we actively seek feedback in order to improve the service we provide and I apologise for any distress caused.
