"Disappointed with administration"

Hi, Just so disappointed with the administration at this hospital, When I lodged a complaint no one has bothered to follow up. So I just tell it as it is.

I am an older patient and came in for a prostate procedure. Staff were fantastic and so were the majority of the nurses. After theatre I was in recovery. I was tired and sleep and wanted some quiet. I expected to go into my private room soon. 4 hours later I was still in recovery. 3 hours into my recovery I had to ask someone for a cup of tea and a sandwich (poor in my opinion).

When I did get to my ward I did not get a private room. Not happy I asked for the head nurse. They came in with another two nurses. I asked why I was in recovery for so long they said all rooms were full. Well when I was on the trolley going to my room I noticed about one third of the rooms were empty. Asked about my private room they said all occupied by people with the flu. Flu is highly contagious. Why were the nurses not wearing mask and seemingly putting everyone else at risk. No answer to that one. Breakfast. I got everything I did not tick on the menu. Got sorted but! 

But my biggest gripe is the hygeine. If you are bed bound and your meal arrive you have no way of cleaning your hands. There is hand sanitizer on the wall near the hand basin. So you need to call the nurse or the person who delivers your meal to go and get the bottle of hand sanitizer and a towel. You would think that they could provide a package sanitized towelette with each meal so you can wash your hand. I believe all this has fallen on death ears.

Lastly I was in that hospital 5 years ago. Harvey Ward. No phone reception then and no reception now. When you think a bed costs  thousands of Dollars a day.  But 5 years on you think they would that issue would have been addressed.
