I am a woman in her 70s who took a bad fall outside the Observatory on a Saturday evening. I presented at hospital in quite a bit of pain. I had fallen on my right shoulder and right knee. I had also injured [broken bones] in my left hand attempting to save myself. My shoulder was extremely painful as I have 2 complete tears in my rotator cuff and landing so heavy on the shoulder I couldn't move my arm.
I was extremely well cared for. Doctor Patrick headed the team which carefully assessed my injuries. My left hand and lower arm was put in plaster. I was admitted overnight as I was unable to use both my arms. Doctor Patrick referred me to the hand clinic at hospital which was also very caring. I was supplied with a split which I used after the plaster was removed. I have had a very long and painful recovery but thanks to the immediate care I was given I have been able to regain most of the movement in my right arm. My left hand has completely healed. The recovery of my shoulder and hand have required 10 weeks of physio but thankfully I continue to improve.
I want to express my most sincere thanks particularly to Doctor Patrick and his staff for their care and consideration for my welfare. I consider that everything possible was done to help care for me and provide as much comfort as possible. I will always for grateful I was so well looked after at your hospital.
With best regards, nitratedk93
