Where do I begin, first of all this is a joint celebration as the patient next to us was in agreement to all that was discussed.
We were unfortunately a recent visitor of the ED Busselton, from the second we were put on a bed we were greeted by the most enthusiastic, kind, positive and friendly Student nurse Emma. She was the only face we saw for at least 40 minutes, who consistently popped her head in, started assessments including an ECG and urine sample, vital signs, listening to my concerns.
She was also such a blessing to the gentleman next to us who brought in by an ambulance!
She reassured the both of us, and was ever so polite to the other workers.
The doctor gave some orders and Emma was quick to say “I’ve got it covered, all done!” She was 10 steps ahead. Her positive attitude and her big smile was such a comfort.
I believe Emma mentioned her dream was to work in her local emergency department (Busselton) and continue working for our community doing ambulance officer services.
She said her last day of training was a few days away before she became a qualified registered nurse, what an achievement.
Myself and the patient beside us, have nothing but brilliant feedback, having a nurse as good as Emma is detrimental to the organisation.
We hope to see Emma back in the emergency department if I ever have to revisit.
10/10 on explaining the medical-lingo, her knowledge input was unbelievable and her demeanour was beyond measure.
Thank you Emma, I hope this reaches you, and you succeed with your pathway to ED nursing.
"Give this girl a medal!"
