"Care & attention during Chemo days at RHW, Randwick"

About: Royal Hospital for Women / Macquarie Ward

(as the patient),

I was receiving paclitaxel & carboplatin. Administering these took a full day.

Three main items made this a time a very special experience. I looked forward to my chemotherapy days.

First, the staff were relaxed, really pleasant & very attentive. They always knew what to do whatever the circumstance. This was all very reassuring.

The layout of the chemotherapy room helped: extremely comfortable chairs which could be laid back or adjusted to raise feet: the layout allowed for conversations with others having chemotherapy. This was very helpful for me as I learnt a lot and have made new friends.

The room included coffee/tea/water making facilities and its own bathroom.

Lunch was always provided.
