"My Recent Care"

About: Royal Perth Hospital / Stomach, Bowel and Liver Care (Gastroenterology and Hepatology)

(as the patient),

I recently was admitted to Royal Perth Hospital after severe vomiting that resulted in a bad hiatus hernia and falls from weakness. The treatment at both hospitals was excellent. All of the medical staff were very competent and made me feel secure.

When I was discharged a few weeks later, I was visited by physiotherapists twice a week to put me through a simple exercise regime that has helped with my strength and balance. I had been loaned a shower chair and walker which helped enormously. I no longer need these. My Aged Care visited me and I now have handrails in the bathroom and shower. I now have help from a care provider who does simple housework, garden tasks and provided transport to medical appointments.

I cannot praise the health system in WA and Australia enough.
