I attended the ED recently in severe pain , I was given Pain medication and sent home with a refferal for a scan. I fell asleep for the rest of the day from the painkillers missing the phone call for the appointment.
A few days later in the morning I had the scan and was immediately sent back to outpatients in the same pain and was given more painkillers and an appointment was made with a specialist about removing my gallbladder as this was the problem.
That same day just after midday I returned to the ED in severe pain with the same problem, at the time of writing this, a day has passed and I am still waiting in the Day Procedure ward for a diagnosis.
The nurses I've seen have been amazing throughout this time.
The doctors on the other hand, I have found have been aloof and uncommunicative booking and then cancelling surgery twice without notice or reason. When faced with myself in terrible pain after they cancelled the second surgery and permitted me to eat after 26 hours of no food seemingly did nothing leaving it to the nurses to deal with it.
I have had an Xray, ultrasound and CT since being in hospital. No doctor has explained any results with any satisfaction or clarity. Here I sit, at the time of writing this, hour 29 of my stay in an open ward, still in considerable pain with No outcome insight. I believe that if it was up to the doctor I saw just before eating my first meal I would have been discharged and sent to outpatients where I would have been in a public area in significant pain.
