About: Kalgoorlie Health Campus / Maternity Ward

(as the patient),

I had a great experience at Kalgoorlie Hospital but would have been more comfortable and loved it further if there were facilities to cater to water birthing at the hospital! Also would be great if more midwives and nurses in the ward were more versed in hypnobirthing practises.

Thank you for telling us about you recent birthing experience. I am pleased to be able to feedback that our midwives are embracing the newly launched Positive Birth Program here in Kalgoorlie. Like you, I am hopeful this will see more of our midwives versed in hypnobirthing and empower new mothers and their partners with confidence as their due dates approach. This program explores the use of water immersion. Particularly, during the earlier phases of labour and encourages mothers to use these strategies as much as possible at home prior to coming into the hospital.

Our midwives continue to strive to provide as many options as safely possible for the women in our community. As we work towards stabilising our midwifery staffing we will continue to explore these options, and have certainly taken note of your feedback.
