I was taken to Sale emergency department by ambulance while suffering a gallbladder attack
I had 10/10 pain that paramedics managed to get me comfortable to the point it was down to a 3.
A dr had a poke and prod and asked what hurt etc and ordered tests
They were quite busy which I understand so I was comfortable still from meds ambos had given.
But over time they wore off and I asked for more pain meds before it got unbearable again
The Dr gave me a shot of ketoralak? Which after 1/2 hour had done nothing and I was crying on floor in pain leaning over bed, I was then given a shot of buscopan
I told them I need something stronger but it wasn’t offered. I was then taken for a cat scan and asked to lay still on take and do breathing. I was beside myself crawling in gnoring pain crying on the table trying to lie still
I was then wheeled back to my room by orderly while I was crying out in pain and nurse followed and didn’t even enter Room. I was left to cry it out alone.
By this time my partner who I was messaging on the phone as they were home with our kids called the hospital as I was begging them to take me to another hospital. They asked why I wasn’t being treated properly
The nurse came back to do obs 40 minutes later and I told them I want to put in a complaint and want drs details and discharge paperwork
They told me they didn’t know drs name ? What the hell?
They said they raised the issue and got another Dr to organize stronger meds
Once this was done the pain become more bearable
Turned out my gall bladder was very swollen.
I was sent home to get ultrasound the next day to see if they needed to bring surgery forward
I was to return to the emergency department after my ultrasound
I’m so traumatized by this experience and don’t know what I did to deserve the treatment I got
I feel like I was being punished for being in pain
It’s not ok
