"Breast Cancer Stage 3"

About: Fiona Stanley Hospital / Chemotherapy Unit, Cancer Centre, Cancer Outpatients Clinic, Bone Marrow Transplant, Oncology, Radiation Oncology & Ward 7C

(as the patient),

I've written to FSH complaining my calls are being ignored. I've had 2 ops and already had my radiation oncologist appointment which I felt was a joke - they didn't even look at me and wrote down the wrong side on my consent form! Why I needed to attend is crazy since all they can apparently do is tell me nothing can happen before my chemo. I'm booked in to meet the chemo oncologist soon to find out a plan and feel like a nervous wreck after reading the reviews about the lack of care it seems I'm likely to receive. How can this happen in Australia. Does this mean I'm not going to survive 😢

Dear normakw83,

I was very sorry to read of your feelings of being ignored when trying to contact FSH services with regards to your care. Please be assured our Medical Oncology team will complete a full assessment and explain future treatment with you in detail at your first upcoming appointment with them.

I understand this is a very stressful time for you and the specialist cancer care team will be able to offer you information and support to assist navigating the treatment ahead. If you continue to have concerns over the coordination of care, I encourage you to ask to speak to the Nurse Unit Manager of the Cancer Centre who can complete a thorough review of your scheduled appointments. Our Patient and Family Liaison Service have passed on your details to that Nurse Unit Manager, and she will contact you on Monday.

I wish you all the best with your ongoing care.

Kind regards,

Neil Doverty
