My wife and I are travelling in our caravan on holiday and currently staying in Coral Bay. One night at approximately 12.30 I noticed that my suprapubic catheter had become dislodged and was completely out. This is due to me being unable to urinate normally due to my medical condition. To me this is a medical emergency. Through phone calls we were able to get in contact with the nurse at the Coral Bay Nursing station at approximately 12.45. Donna, the nurse got out of bed, came and met us at the station and let us in. After examination of the old catheter she noticed the balloon keeping it in place had deflated. She then very professionally inserted a new S.P.C and averted a serious situation for me.
I was exceptionally grateful to Donna for her treatment and for her to get out of bed to help me. I was also highly impressed with her professionalism, communication skills and caring attitude. Without this treatment at Coral Bay I would have needed to travel 90 minutes to the nearest hospital.
