"Urology admission"

About: Fremantle Hospital and Health Service

(as a relative),

My relatives letter stated they need to ring and confirm several days before their prostrate biopsy, which they did this recently, there were a few questions they needed to ask, as their last biopsy there were preperations in place 2 days prior, I understand that the receptionist or whomever they spoke to was very rude, even sarcastic. My relative is already anxious about their biopsy.  If staff seemingly cannot be nice and understanding either on the phone or face to face, then I believe they should not be dealing with the public.

Dear Old-person-chicken-legs,

I am sorry that your relative experienced rudeness and sarcasm from one of our employees. I’d like to reassure you that behaviour you have described does not align with our values, nor with our Code of Conduct policy.

If your relative is still anxious and would benefit from a follow-up phone call, please ask them to contact our Patient and Family Liaison Service (9431 2787) and they will be able to facilitate this. Your relative could also provide further information and consent so that we can properly investigate who they spoke to on the phone originally.

All the best with your relative’s biopsy and future treatment.

Kind regards,

Neil Doverty

Dr Doverty. thank you for your response.

The phone number my relative called that was on the letter, Elective Waitlist Service 9431 2117. relative made that call in the morning.

The relative is on a clinical trail for cancer to another organ as well. They don't want sympathy, with respect they just need kindness and understanding because of the journey they are dealing with.

Kindest regards
