Very pleased with staff and doctors. Communication is good. Unfortunately, I feel there are some issues with the room infrastructure: 

1. No wifi or phone reception inside buildings, as a heart transplant recipient, I need to keep in touch with my clinic and having no connection can delay important information. Also, doctors and staff need to go outside for reception which I feel is unacceptable for 2024, especially if it is an emergency call. 

2. Bathroom fixtures are sub standard for anyone with a disability or arthritis; taps are flush and difficult to turn, door handle flush, no towel racks or coat hooks. 

Once again, great personal experience, good food and excellent care.

Thank you for taking the time to reach out to us. I am so pleased to hear that the staff communicated well with you and provided excellent care and that the food was great. I will be sure to pass this feedback onto the staff.

We have recently completed an upgrade for the mobile network reception across the site, so thank you for bringing this area, with poor service to our attention. I will ask the team to check and find if something needs adjusting in the placement of the units that strengthen the signal in the ward.

Unfortunately, the option to provide free wifi across the site is not an easy fix. This is due to the cybersecurity risk. As a health service we take this very seriously. It is my understanding that work continues on options to provide this safely across all sites, so I am hopeful there will be a solution in the future.

I am sorry if the fixtures in the bathrooms made things difficult for you. We have some rooms that have been modified to be ligature free. That is, to lower the risk for people that may be considering self-harm. This includes removing hooks and rails. It means that towels and clothes need to be placed on a chair in the room instead. These rooms are important for patients that may need to be cared for on our medical ward. They may be too young or have another condition that makes them unsuitable for the mental health inpatient unit. Not all rooms have been modified this way and we try to place patients in the most suitable room for their individual needs.
