"Prescription only medication"

About: Bunbury Hospital / Emergency Department

(as the patient),

I feel most Ed admin staff are very rude and careless. Stayed overnight and discharged with medication the doctor thought was over the counter. Got to the chemist to be told it’s prescription only and that I was to go back to the hospital to have the medication prescribed. Call the doctor on duty in ED to confirm I can have the script written up to collect as the doctor treating me overnight said the medication is essential. Return to Ed just for admin staff to tell me I have a very long wait to be triaged for a script after explaining I had already spoken to the doctor in the department (there was no budging, admin gave me no other option but to sit with the 15-20 other people waiting to be triaged). I proceeded to walk out of emergency and call again just to be told my script will be written up and ready to collect in 15 minutes.

Dear festivitywe83

Thank you for talking the time to provide feedback regarding your recent visit to Bunbury Emergency Department. I was disappointed to read that some members of the team did not acknowledge the situation we had put you in and in turn were less than helpful. For this I am sincerely sorry.

I do hope you are feeling much better.

Kind regards,

Amber Hargans
