"It's the small things"

About: SMHS Rehabilitation In The Home (RITH)

(as the patient),

I had open heart surgery and afterwards I had to do a bit of physio work. The people who came to me where really good. There was the physio, Annabelle, and the Occupational Therapist, Penn. They were really good, I’m a bit digitally not good but I got an email from the service and it was more I couldn’t answer it online but I just wanted to thank them and I didn’t want to let it fall through the cracks. I just want to compliment them because they were really good. You don’t get good service much these days but these two girls were unreal

They were showing me how to do exercises and did about 2 sessions with me. Then they rang me up to ask how I was going, and at that time I’ve been walking, not too far but I told them what I was doing that I was feeling better that I was going to start a physio course soon and they asked would I like for them to come around. I said I'm going okay, if you want to come around I don’t think its necessary and I've been walking every day and gradually picking up the distance.

I said don’t worry there’s other people worse off and I’m feeling good and that was about 2 weeks ago and I got this letter in the post asking me to email and I wasn’t able to email.

It was a really good idea to have the sort of service. It was really helpful, I didn’t know we had things like that until I had to go to hospital. I guess it’s a government initiative maybe, but really everyone involved was wonderful. Everyone from Fiona Stanley I was just stoked about the care I received from everyone. And you need to give compliments where compliments are due.

It’s the small things, and so I wanted to make a phone call and I'd like to congratulate all the people in the hospital to help me and I look forward to coming to Fremantle for my physio sessions.

Dear woodpeckerfr86,

Thank you for taking the time to pass on your lovely feedback for the Rehabilitation in the Home staff Annabelle and Penn. We are very proud of our team and the service they provide. We are so glad that you found them helpful in supporting you with your exercises and that they checked in with you and made sure you were feeling confident in managing after your discharge from hospital. We have passed on this feedback to the staff.

Kind regards,

Kate Gatti
