"Colonoscopy"

About: Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital / Surgical Services

(as the patient),

-In 2020 after waiting about 9 months I finally got treatment for Polyps in Caravon.

-Later that year I then got treatment in Perth Charles Gairdner for one that could not be delt with in Carnarvon hospital

-I had a follow up appointment with my GP stating that I was a semi high risk and should get looked at yearly with a follow up coloniscopy

-2022 I went to doctor for a referral

-2022 I chased up my referral and it had been cancelled with notice

-9/2023 I again went to GP for a referral that again got cancelled with no notice.

-10/2023 I again went to GP and got another referral as symptoms have still continued.

-10/2024 I follow up with Exmouth hospital and my referral is still pending after 12months.

I have been informed I am a stage 2 patient and I believe this is ridiculous with no notice of proceeding..

Dear AnomM,

We would like to thank you for bringing your issue to our attention. We are sorry to hear that you have experienced long wait times and poor communication regarding your ongoing care and colonoscopy appointment.

I acknowledge it can be upsetting and difficult waiting for a referral. I would like the opportunity to review your situation further and to investigate the circumstances that have led to the prolonged wait. As Care Opinion is an anonymous platform I recommend you contacting our Consumer Liaison Services (Phone: 6457 2867 or email CLS@health.wa.gov.au) to provide your personal details so we are able to review and ensure an appropriate plan is in place.

I can assure you that Sir Charles Gairdner Osborne Park Health Care Group is committed to providing patients with safe and timely care and I sincerely apologise for the delays you have experienced.

Warm regards,

Dr Jodi Graham
