"Waiting in ED"

About: Fiona Stanley Hospital / Emergency Department

(as a parent/guardian),

I have accompanied my daughter into ED for mental health issues. Each time the wait for admission to a bed is approximately over 10 hours and no food is provided throughout this period.

This does not assist someone MH and I expect many other unwell patients are experiencing the same.

Dear perseuskq56,

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback and I am sorry to hear of the delay in admission your daughter and you experienced when you attended our Emergency Department.

The Emergency Department is a very busy place, and we try to see and admit patients in a timely manner. Meals are provided during the daytime and after hours there are snacks and sandwiches available on request.

There is work being undertaken on how we can improve this process and we greatly value your feedback. I hope your daughter is receiving the care that she requires and wish her all the best. Thank you again for taking the time to provide feedback on your experience.

Kind regards,

Tim Leen
