"The outpatients clinic waiting room"

About: Royal Perth Hospital

(as a service user),

I believe this waiting room has not been cleaned in over a month easy I came with my partner round one month ago and the same dirty spat out lollies are still stuck to the wall right next to waiting seats they provide for you. What confidence is this supposed to give a person when the hospital seemingly does not get cleaned at all

Dear festivityxy94

It was disappointing to read you found the same dirty mark stuck to the wall next to the waiting room seats in the Royal Perth Hospital (RPH) Outpatient Clinic that you saw about a month ago.

The East Metropolitan Health Service (EMHS) including RPH has very strict cleaning standards. Waiting areas should be cleaned daily with further spot cleaning occurring as required. I would like to reassure you that areas that are used for direct clinical care (such as inpatient wards, operating theatres and procedural spaces) have even higher cleaning standards in place with rigorous training of staff to undertake these duties.

The Manager of Patient Support Services apologises this has not occurred and will work with staff to ensure that waiting areas meet the cleaning schedule requirements.

Thank you for sharing your story on Care Opinion and I would like to further reassure you staff will be conducting a thorough clean of all RPH Outpatient Clinic waiting areas as a result of your feedback.

Kind regards

Ben Noteboom
