"Exceptional wholistic care at Rockingham Hospital"

About: Rockingham General Hospital

(as a friend),

A family friend, Ian, received end of life care at Rockingham Hospital until he died peacefully on 7th November 2024.  I am a RN working at a NMHS site and visited and just had to write to you.  The care he and his family received was exceptional; medical, nursing, catering, volunteer and cleaning staff.  The environment is in a lovely setting, the car parking was free and plentiful, and the ward appeared to be very peaceful, although the staff was clearly very busy, they portrayed a professional, sensitive and caring demeanour at all times.

They provided a place to sleep and meals for the four adult children who wished to stay with their beloved father to the end.  No problem was left unsolved.  It did my heart good to see such compassion alive and well in our health service.  Thank you on behalf of the family

Dear Lintf79,

Please accept my condolences on the loss of your friend, Ian. Thank you for taking the time to share this lovely feedback of your recent experience at this difficult time.

The staff at Rockingham General Hospital, in partnership with the palliative care team, continuously strive to provide holistic family centred care to all our patients and their families and I am pleased that the teams were able to support Ian and his family throughout this time.

I will ensure your feedback is shared with the staff and thank you once again for your kind words.

Kind regards,

Kath Smith
