"Surgery at the hospital"

About: Kyneton Hospital / Perioperative Services

(as the patient),

I had day surgery.

I felt it was well organised from the pre-op phone calls to the admission time, the time I was in surgery and then discharged home. Everyone worked well together.

There was only one thing that let this experience down. The nurse that did my admission paperwork and my blood pressure etc..  This nurse pulled a tissue out of their pocket three times to wipe/blow their nose and not once did they cleanse their hands!

Dear caelumtb89

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience.

It's good to know that you felt things were well organised from start to finish, and that our staff worked well together.

On the other hand, we apologise for your experience during the admission process.

All staff are guided by our Hand Hygiene procedure and are required to complete ongoing mandatory competencies. We regularly audit staff practices too.

We will continue to regularly engage with all staff about hand hygiene and our goal of providing Best Care for every patient, every time. Your feedback will be used to inform this.

Should you wish to discuss your experience further please do not hesitate to contact the Nurse Unit Manager of Peri-Operative Services - Kristine Wyatt. Kristine is available on 03 5422 9909.

Kind regards

Kristy Mutsaers

Clinical Quality and Safety Coordinator
