My partner had a heavy fall off a horse and broke 3 ribs, and Busselton Hospital’s emergency department treated us both with the utmost respect and care. He’s an ambo so he brings them patients a lot but it was his first experience there as a patient and they were absolutely fantastic.
I am an assistance dog handler and in order to be able to be there to support him I needed my assistance dog with me. Hospital staff asked which of us my dog was there to assist in order to know which of us he had to stay with, and that was that - a wonderful experience considering access to needed medical care (either as the patient or as the patient’s family member) is a source of major anxiety for a lot of AD handlers. Our access was never questioned or challenged and I left feeling welcomed and supported.
"Busselton Hospital is very accessible for assistance dog handlers!"
