My spouse went to a local doctors recently with a swollen leg .They were advised by the doctor to come to the ED department as they needed to rule out deep vein thrombosis.
Upon arriving my spouse was placed in the waiting room to be seen by a doctor. All the paper work from the doctor had been emailed to the hospital for a scan .The doctor on duty asked for a EGC and scan to be done. My spouse has sat in the waiting room from 11.30am until 5.15 to get a scan. They were not offered a drink or anything to eat .
They eventually had their scans done and fortunately it was a baker cyst .
They left the hospital at 7pm .The nurse on duty commented that it should not have been that long and said they were sorry my spouse was kept waiting that long .
We understand that there are people far worse off than they were but I think it would have been far better if they had communicated and we were able to come home and go back when my spouse was scheduled for their scan .
Sitting in a waiting room on a chair is really not comfortable or acceptable in my opinion.
We have always had great service from the hospital shame it took so long this time.
Kind Regards
