"Employee complaining in public"

About: St George Hospital / 1 East Paediatrics

(as a parent/guardian),

Recently we were in the Children’s section with our child.

The employee I witnessed was loudly complaining about management and other staff stating that other staff don’t follow the rules with returning ED beds back made up along with complaints about management as they were making this employee take off their nail polish and other general complains.

I felt this employee was very inconsiderate to all the people around them who are, in my opinion, obviously there with real struggles.

I believe it is an insult to the other nurses there working so hard and doing such a great job to help us.

From what I saw I could tell they were complaining loudly to any other staff that would listen.

Dear bargainyn84

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. I want to extend my sincerest apologies for the distress caused by the behaviour you witnessed during your visit. I appreciate you bringing this to our attention, as it helps us ensure our care and environment meet the highest standards.

The conduct you described does not align with the values or professionalism we expect from our staff. At St George Hospital, we are deeply committed to delivering world-class care, which includes fostering an environment of compassion, respect, and support for our patients, families, and teams.

I would also like to acknowledge and sincerely thank you for recognizing the dedication and hard work of our other nursing staff. It means a great deal to know their efforts made a positive impact during your time with us. Your kind words reinforce the commitment of our teams who strive to deliver exceptional care every day.

I have asked the Nurse Unit Manager of 1 East Paediatrics to review this matter thoroughly. This will include addressing the concerns raised, reinforcing our expectations of professional conduct, and supporting our staff to uphold the standards we pride ourselves on.

Should you wish to provide any further details or discuss your experience, please do not hesitate to reach out at 9113 2687.

Once again, I apologize, and I thank you for recognizing the outstanding efforts of our staff. Your feedback is invaluable in helping us to continuously improve.

Kind regards,
Ange Karooz
General Manager
