"Hospital stay"

About: Wonthaggi Hospital

(as the patient),

The staff at pre admissions, anesthetics, pre op and recovery, along with the surgeons were absolutely amazing. So thorough and professional.

I was really surprised once up on the ward though how adamant staff were about me not getting out of bed. Im relatively young (with some medical background) and had a small procedure on my shoulder. Numerous times I asked to get up to toilet and brush teeth but was told no they'd bring a pan. I wasn't able to get up myself due to drip being attached to bed and wearing those pump stocking things on my legs.

Further to this, nearly every nurse I encountered was seemingly foreign and while they were polite and caring there was definitely at times a clear language barrier. I also found it slightly uncomfortable when they would talk in their native language to each other right next to my bed. Food was pretty woeful, in my opinion, but I think overall in terms of outcome of surgery it is a great service with small areas for improvement.
