"No option for MGP supported home birth"

About: Busselton Health Campus / Maternity Unit, Childbirth & Parenting Education

(as a service user),

My location preference for birthing my baby was at home, but I live outside the area covered for MGP home birth options offered out of Bunbury Hospital. Unfortunately Busselton Health Campus (closest hospital) doesn’t offer home birth services so as a result I chose to hire a private midwife and birth outside of the hospital system to achieve my desired home birth.

I ticked all of the criteria for being able to home birth through Bunbury Hospitals MGP home birth services, and would have loved this option to have been available for me living near Busselton.

Dear cepheusky43

Thank you for taking the time to post on Care Opinion. Busselton Hospital currently offers hospital birthing and also supports credentialed private midwives in our community. We are continually reviewing our model of care and we are investigating additional continuity of care options which we hope to evolve toward in the future.

I hope your recent visit went smoothly and that you and your new addition are settling in well at home,

Yours sincerely, Dan

Daniel Anderson
