"Plaster Room"

About: Fiona Stanley Hospital / General Outpatient Clinics

(as the patient),

I attended Fiona Stanley hospital for a fractured wrist.  While I can appreciate that there was only nurse working there and they were clearly under pressure, I found them to be very rude.  I live by myself and had a lot of questions about my cast, what I can and cannot do, which they refused to answer.  They made me feel like I was stupid asking questions when clearly it will impact my life.  Maybe this person has seen too many like me and does not care any more.  It would be nice to make me feel valued as a person.

Dear decemberct51,

I am sorry to hear about your experience in the Fiona Stanley Hospital Emergency Department (ED) where you required plastering of a fractured wrist. Regardless of how busy any of our clinical areas are it is not acceptable for staff to be rude and unhelpful, particularly in a situation such as yours where you needed aftercare information.

While we have provided this feedback to the area, we also feel it is important that your feedback is provided to the staff member you were interacting with, so they are aware of the impact of their approach. As such, I urge you to contact Patient and Family Liaison with your details on (08) 6152 4013 (Mon to Fri 8:30am to 4:30pm) or email FSHFeedback@health.wa.gov.au. This will allow us to properly investigate your care and treatment and apply learnings wherever possible.

Kind Regards,

Luke Dix

A/Executive Director
