"Parking around the hospital"

About: Swan Hill District Hospital

(as the patient),

We need more parking for longer periods. When racing to be by someone’s side in emergency , in my case my elderly parent in ICU, to only find a park near the Showgrounds is extremely stressful. Or if closer remembering or being able to move vehicle in the 2 hour limit.

New additions have been added to the hospital with seemingly no thought to extra parking.

I believe the staff car park could be made into a multi storey car park. Yes I know it’s expensive but a practical fee for all day parking in the shade would recoup the $ over time. Maybe sponsorship for this could help and I’m sure there are grants available .

Or request the medium nature strips in McCrae and High street be removed to make angle parking, I feel this would be the quickest and easiest solution.

Not only is there a hospital but also a doctor’s clinic, allied health and a school.

Dear pilingseq69,

Thank you so much for taking the time to provide us with your important feedback.

I apologise the limited parking surrounding our Health Service has impacted upon your experience.

Sadly, you have described our carparking issue perfectly - We currently don't have enough car parks, largely because of all the work being undertaken on our site; please accept our apologies.

I can assure you that we currently have ongoing discussions to increase the parking within the Health Precinct; including requests and proposals for increased parking along McCrae and High Street. Multi-storey carparking is also considered.

We will keep progressing what is in our control, to address the issue.

I can assure you this is an active issue for our team, and we will keep pursuing our additional car parking options so that patients and their family won’t have the additional stress to what is often already a very stressful time. Once again, please accept my apologies.

Sincerely yours,

Cherie.
