"ED Night visit"

About: King Edward Memorial Hospital / Emergency Department

(as the patient),

I attended KEMH Emergency in the early evening one weekday. I had not been able to keep fluids or food down for a number of days in this pregnancy and was feeling very unwell.

I was seen by a triage nurse and kept in the waiting room for less than 10mins before being assessed and treated by both a doctor and nurse within another 10 mins.

The care provided was exceptional, caring, rapid and thorough. I felt seen, cared for and well managed. I was able to be discharged from the ED within a few hours, with information, a plan for my GP and for me for the next few weeks of the pregnancy.

Whilst I understand that I was unlikely the sickest patient in the ED that evening, I was not made to feel like I was a nuisance or less important.

Thank you very much to the staff who cared for me.

Dear zempathy82,

I'm so sorry to hear that you were feeling so unwell during your pregnancy. I'm glad that you sought care here at King Edward Memorial Hospital, and that our team in the Emergency Centre provided you with such exceptional and compassionate care. It's wonderful that they were able to see you so quickly and make you feel valued and so well-managed. It will mean a lot to the team to know how much their care meant to you at such a challenging time.

Wishing you all the best in the remainder of your pregnancy.

Delaney
