My husband went into the hospital because he had a stroke, a mini stroke. A blood clot in the brain. He was in Fiona Stanley and that was for four weeks. In regards to his stay in the hospital, he was well looked after, and the surgeons were very precise and they spoke to me about what had happened and how they did it. The young surgeon, he have me so much information and explanation about his progress and the medication they put him on. He was a nice person, and the nurses were very good.
The rehab was via direct hospital transfer, this saved time and effort. In rehab the coordinator, Sue, organized every thing; OT and Physio during his stay and they were very regular. Giving him the assistance he needed to get to the point he’s at now. The social workers visited, and there was an assessment that said he could come home with at-home support. He’s received home support for the last three weeks, it’s just completed. Sue did an assessment on my husband and he’s now been referred to outpatients in the rehabilitation hospital. In two weeks time we have an ACAT assessment, to see how else we can progress from here. Sue and her assistant, Glenda, they’ve been really good with him. There is a language barrier with my husband and I was able to assist.
The company that was sent out to us, it’s still ongoing so we will see how long we can hold onto it. He’s receiving one week, one hour support for personal care, then it will be personal care and cleaning services.
