"Attended emergency after eye injections."

About: Fairfield Hospital

(as the patient),

My eyes were burning due to eye injections in the morning at Westmead Hospital Clinic.

I had to go to get some kind of pain relief at the hospital. The hospital waiting room was completely empty except for me and when I was admitted the nurse gave me eye drops in both eyes which stopped the burning almost immediately. A staff member proceeded with tests. The antiseptic drops wore off and the intense burning returned in both eyes. I asked could he please give me more drops to stop the pain, but was told that it would be a waste of time as it would only last for 15 minutes, only to return. I was seated from 7pm to about 10pm in pain and despite my screaming in pain, I was left alone for 2 hours. Later they gave my eyes a cold water eye bath which did not help. At 10:30pm the staff member who took the tests came to me and told me to find my way home. Luckily I had a friend who came to pick me up, however before I left this staff member told me not to go back to Fairfield Hospital repeatedly - if the burning persists either today or tomorrow, but to go to Liverpool Hospital. This is my biggest concern as I live in the Fairfield area and Liverpool is too difficult for me to travel to.
