I took my child to the Emergency room after they ingested some pills.
Despite my distress, I asked the staff, admin staff and told the waiting room that we needed to be seen quickly it took one hour twenty minutes to reach the triage window.
My child could no longer stand, and fell. No staff came to assist my child.
The patients in the waiting room had more compassion and care. I had to monitor my child's breathing and level of consciousness. Someone in the waiting room gave up their chair for my child.
We were lucky, the combination my child ingested was ok. But what if it wasn't?
I am a health professional, so I was able to research what I needed to do while waiting in line.
Why is there no clinical staff in the waiting room assessing the patients as they come through the door?
