"Choosing my end of life journey."

About: Sydney / Sydney Eye Hospital

(as a staff member posting for a patient/service user),

Attn: Chief Executive

I have had Parkinson’s for eight (8) years and have speech difficulties. I can't speak and I believe Sydney Hospital is taking advantage of it. I also can't type fast. Eight years ago I started Parkinson’s. Most of this year I was in SJB (Sir Joseph Banks) nursing home, for 7 months in Stage 5 Parkinsonism condition stuck to bed and wheeled to toilet. Then 2 months ago all classified symptoms disappear and I was able to walk with a walker. I asked the manager to let me be discharged, but she refused. I called police, but they said this is not their problem. So, I forced my way through the security door and found my way to a taxi.

Manager and 5 people followed me trying to pull me back. I collapsed from the strain and they called ambulance. Paramedics respected my decision not to take me back to nursing home and transported me to POW Hospital. Emergency doctor said there is nothing medically wrong with me and sent me to Sydney Hospital for social reasons. There I asked for Social Worker to explain my situation. She came for 5 minutes and promised to come back tomorrow. In 4 days I asked all the time and she never came. Instead hospital started with psychiatrist test. I asked hospital staff to discharge me from hospital, but they refused because I can't think logically. It is very unfair and maybe illegal to conduct psychiatric test if patient is unable to answer correctly questions because of speaking disabilities. After refusal to discharge, my only way of protesting was refusing food and medication.

You must give consent before receiving treatment. In most cases this will be verbal consent. Written consent is required for some procedures, such as surgery.

You have the right to withhold consent. In this case you will not receive treatment. In a life-threatening emergency where you are too ill or unconscious, consent is not required.

Declaration:

In accordance with NSW Health Department patient rights and responsibilities I hereby declare that I am withdrawing my consent for treatment in hospital. I am not unconscious, or not in life-threatening emergency.

I feel as though you ruined rest of my life.

Do you know how unconscious persons looks?

Prince of Wales emergency doctor who sent me to Sydney Hospital said there is nothing medically wrong with me.

To Psychiatrist

In my opinion, your action was very unfair. I believe you used my speech problem and my shaking attack to my disadvantage. As far as I’m concerned you formed your opinion not understanding my answers. I felt you forced new questions not giving me the chance to answer the previous one.

Copy Text 3:

To other Psychiatrist.

I don’t want the same situation to happen, so I will anticipate your questions. My only crime is I have no family and can’t speak. The other Psychiatrist didn’t let me explain that I was in Stage 5 Parkinson’s, suffering to compare to suffering of terminal cancer patient. I was stuck for months in bed and a couple of months ago my suffering stopped and only mild symptoms left. The question is not to go around with walker, just book with flight centre flight to Brisbane with all the way wheelchair assistance from taxi at Sydney departure gate till taxi at arrival in Brisbane. I know Brisbane and was in few accommodation there. Psychiatrists tried to do for me independence test, I believe ignoring fact that in my accommodation I will have furniture and food or even shower adapted to my condition. I was before living alone in Brisbane residential unit. I will buy as before, mobility scooter. In Brisbane all city train stations have lifts. In a couple of months I will return to my country where I am resident.

Am I aware of the possible risk?

I may fall, break my bones or hit my head and die. I am 78 years old and death will be my liberation. No one will cry for me. With Parkinson's life expectation is 8 years. I have had Parkinon's 8 years. I may die here tomorrow
