"Birth at SJOG Midland"

About: St John of God Midland Hospital / Ward 2A (Maternity)

(as a parent/guardian),

I was due to be induced recently, but my waters broke earlier than admission so I went into hospital a couple of hours earlier.

The midwives I had that morning were great (Olivia, Michelle and Debbie).

A few hiccoughs with bub at the end, but the midwives, especially Michelle were awesome.

After having bub and going into the Maternity ward, things changed a little and from the get go I felt like the midwives were pushing to discharge me, already telling me I would be going home the next day. This is fine if all is well, but I had literally just walked into the room from the delivery suite, so I felt a bit anxious at being told that so soon.

Jade and Katie in the Materinty ward, Paula the Lactation Consultant were very caring and attentive, but I have to admit it fell short after that.

I'm happy to be contacted to discuss further.

Hello New Mum2

Thank you for your feedback regarding your recent experience on the Maternity Ward.

Firstly, congratulations on the birth of your child and also for your kind words about a number of the nursing staff that cared for you. I will pass your thanks on to them.

I was very sorry however that you felt that you were being rushed out of the hospital following your delivery and apologise for any distress caused. The Midwife Manager has advised that she would appreciate the opportunity to speak with you about this and the other issues you allude to in your email.

We strive to provide a high standard of care for all of our patients and feedback such as yours is very important to help us enhance and make changes to our services. Please phone our Consumer Liaison Manager on 9462 4901 and provide your contact details. We look forward to hearing from you soon.

Kind regards

Janet Jones

Director of Nursing, Midwifery and Clinical Governance
