"Elderly private patient moved 7 times in 15 days!"

About: Sutherland Hospital

(as a relative),

My mother is aged in her early nineties and struggling to cope with a number of issues. She’s getting better slowly in part due to the fact that she’s been moved 7 times in 15 days to accommodate bed issues. She can’t seem to get moved to a private hospital though, even though she is a private patient! I feel this is ridiculously outrageous!

Dear Enough is enough

I am very sorry to hear that your mother endured several bed moves during her stay in hospital. I acknowledge the impact that constant bed moves can have on our patients, particularly our older and frailer patients.

I raised your feedback with our staff recently and it was agreed that we need to do better in this regard. We are currently looking at ways to monitor the number of times an individual patient is moved, and the reasons why, in order to improve the experience for our patients.

Please don't hesitate to reach out to us if you would like us to investigate your mother's care in more detail, including the reasons for so many bed moves and why transfer to a private facility was not able to occur at the time.

I hope your mother's condition has improved and she is well on her way back to better health.
